About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Hardware / Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys working at the interface of electrical and mechanical engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for translating customer and system requirements into robust electrical and electromechanical designs for industrial equipment, automation systems, machinery, and high-tech installations. You will work in multidisciplinary project teams and take ownership from concept through detailed engineering, manufacturing support, integration, testing, and commissioning.

The position is in the Engineering department, you will collaborate closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and external partners to develop robust, manufacturing equipment and efficient and compliant manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems, control cabinets, and machine installations.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, terminal plans, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Translate functional and system requirements into detailed hardware designs.
• Select and specify electrical components, sensors, actuators, drives, PLC-related hardware, and instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, CE, UL, machine safety, and applicable industry standards.
• Collaborate with software, controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and project engineering teams.
• Review and optimize existing electrical designs and engineering standards.
• Participate in design reviews, FAT/SAT activities, validation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Manage engineering documentation and engineering change requests together with the System Architect.
• Contribute to standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of engineering processes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or HBO level in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline.
• 5-10 years of experience in hardware engineering, electrical design, machine building, industrial automation, mechatronics, or related industries.
• Proven experience designing electrical systems for machinery, industrial equipment, or automation projects.
• Experience supporting projects from concept through commissioning.

Competencies

• Experience with EPLAN Electric P8 is a high preference.
• Experience creating electrical schematics and control panel designs.
• Knowledge of PLC systems, industrial automation, instrumentation, and power distribution within high tech machinery.
• Familiarity with machine safety requirements and electrical standards.
• Ability to create and maintain BOMs and technical documentation.
• Understanding of multidisciplinary system integration involving electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
