MPPIreland panel participation and moderation

VIVOLTA was pleased to participate in MPPIreland 2026 in Galway, where Noel Davison, Sr. Director of Business, moderated the panel discussion “Advanced Coverings and Surface Solutions for Implantable Devices.”

The session brought together experts from across the cardiovascular and implantable device industry to explore how material and surface technologies can be leveraged to enhance device performance and improve patient outcomes. The discussion covered a range of approaches, including electrospun matrices, implantable textiles, ePTFE membranes, hydrophilic coatings, and antithrombotic and antimicrobial surface technologies.

Using commercial device case studies as a foundation, the panel examined the key factors that influence technology selection, including device function, integration requirements, delivery system constraints, sterilization considerations, cyclic durability, and manufacturability at scale. Discussions highlighted that while each technology brings unique strengths, successful implementation depends on balancing clinical requirements with practical considerations throughout development and commercialization.

A recurring theme throughout the session was the importance of early collaboration between device developers, material suppliers, and manufacturing partners to accelerate innovation while reducing development risk.

We would like to thank our fellow panelists for sharing their expertise and perspectives, as well as the event organizers and attendees for the engaging discussions. Events such as MPPIreland provide valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge and advance the next generation of cardiovascular and implantable medical devices.

Panel participants:

  • Gregory Teh (Hydromer)
  • Elad Einav (Medibrane)
  • Arjun Luthra (BioInteractions)
  • Andrew Metzger (Solesis)
  • Noel Davison (VIVOLTA, Moderator)

We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting MedTech innovators in bringing advanced implantable devices from concept to commercial reality.
